The Houston Public Library is going to enter the following students' documentaries "The Controversy Surrounding the Building of a Mosque near Ground Zero" by Hannah Kay and Charlie McBean and "The Education System: Are we Servicing the Immigrant Students" by Tiye McKethen and Josenique Gerard into the 2012 Texas Media Awards.

These two documentaries were awarded Gold and Silver medals earlier this year at the National High School Journalism competition. Mrs. Vinnie Arlt, the Johnston Middle School Broadcast Journalism teacher, states, "Now we have been invited by HPL to enter the Texas Media Award, which is a huge honor."

Texas Media Awards is sponsored by the Texas Library Association. The awards will be given during the annual conference which will be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center during the third week in April.
