Dear Johnston Middle School Parent or Guardian,
I have some extraordinary and exciting news to share with you about our school. We have been nominated to be a Blue Ribbon School. The student achievement data from the more than 8,000 private, charter and public Texas school campuses was examined, and our school was one of only 26 schools in the state of Texas to be selected for this honor. We were selected by an intra-agency committee.
I just got through doing some research on past HISD Blue Ribbon School winners. Since 2003, only 5 HISD secondary schools have been nominated and received Blue Ribbon status. They are:
Carnegie Vanguard High School
Kaleidoscope Middle School
Michael E. DeBakey High School
HSPVA
Pin Oak Middle School
That’s it. That’s the whole list. We’ve joined some very elite company with this honor. This level of success and recognition can only come about when an entire school community—students, parents, teachers, administrators, business partners, and community members—form a strong partnership and lift each student up one at a time.
Please take a few moments and read the press release from the Texas Education Agency
I am so excited for our school community and so proud to be a Greyhound.
Have a great weekend and wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
Sincerely,
Dave D. Wheat, Principal
Johnston Middle School
